Cruise Control Landlording with Don Beck
Don was teaching elementary school when he found real estate. Within 60 months of starting his investing career he had bought and was managing 80 rental units and retired from teaching at the age of 34. He is now 74 so will share his 45 years of landlording knowledge.
Because he was so busy buying properties he failed to learn landlording strategies but quickly understood that without rent checks there was lots of negative cash flow. That’s when he realized he needed a strong property management system and a strong landlord friendly lease to control his tenants.
He has shared his cruise control landlording techniques with thousands of investors from all over the country. During this all day seminar he will combine his teaching background with practical landlording knowledge, mix it with a sense of humor that will keep us entertained while educating us at the same time.
Don was President of DIG for nine years and served on the DIG board for over three decades, many as education chair. He has served on the Board of National REIA and was instrumental in starting National REIA’s “education with a vacation” cruises and was their cruise chairman for 13 years.
Some topics Don will cover:
- Strong lease clauses designed by a landlord (Don) for landlords
- Effective screening techniques that can save you thousands
- Biggest mistakes made by landlords and how to avoid them
- Do’s and Don’ts when showing the unit
- How to collect past due rents & damages even after the tenant has moved
- How to get drug dealing tenants to move without evicting
